"The Mental Institution ™" (TMI) is a corporation formed by Massimo for the performance of Mentalism and demonstrations of Psychic Abilities for entertainment purposes only. TMI has nothing to do with neither insane asylums nor facilities for the mentally ill. It was established totally for entertainment purposes and the demonstrations of mind reading abilities along with several other aspects of the Paranormal: Psycho Kinesis, which is the ability of the mind to influence matter, time, space, or energy; Extrasensory Perception (ESP) the ability to acquire information from others by the means of mind power; Telepathy, the ability to gain or transfer information or thoughts through the sixth sense; and Precognition, the ability to perceive information before it happens. Massimo is an extraordinary mentalist that makes up “The Mental Institution™”. He was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona and holds several college degrees with majors in Psychology, Marketing, and Advertising. Massimo started out in magic when he was seven years old. He and his father invented, designed, and built (by hand) several magic effects that are still used today, four decades later! As a child, Massimo (under the performing name “Luigi & Co.”) was asked to go on a well-regarded local television show to perform magic. From then on he has kept performing to both live and television audiences. Since about the mid 80s, he has been performing Mentalism. Luigi became Massimo, and has performed all over the United States and abroad. Massimo has entertained numerous and quite a diverse group of individuals. He has been invited to perform at many private parties and functions, helped raise funds for many religious organizations, and performed for Cities, Counties and at State Fairs. He has gone to many adult homes and centers, assisted living homes, and to many different hospitals entertaining both adults and children. However, he believes his greatest realization has been to help raise money for centers for the handicapped, for child abuse homes, and at-risk children. Massimo has been successful in both business and in his personal life. People of all ages find him amusing, clever, unique, and electrifying. Massimo’s great insistence on quality products has led him to design, reconstruct, and manufacture a number of mental effects that are currently being distributed under “Mental Works” by The Mental Institution™. Massimo, while performing under the name of “The Mental Institution ™” continues to delight, enchant, and amuse audiences of all ages. Mentalism is an ancient performing art in which the practitioners, known as “Mentalists”, use mental acuity or insight, crowd or individual hypnosis, psychology and/or suggestion to present the illusion of mind reading, psycho kinesis, precognition, clairvoyance, or mind control. The question then becomes: "Does reality exist only because of the mind’s awareness?" Mentalism is a fascinating and entertaining field, and it is not for the faint-hearted. Despite the public's perception of a Mentalist as a "Mind Reader", the field of Mentalism covers a wider scope than just reading minds. The mind reading act itself has many variations. The most straightforward situation is where the Mentalist attempts to read the mind of a volunteer and do it successfully. The volunteer will be asked to focus his mind on the answer to a question posed by the Mentalist. The Mentalist will then discern, via the thought waves of the volunteer, his answers. The Mentalist can also send his thoughts to a volunteer. If the volunteer is unusually receptive to receiving the Mentalist's thoughts, then the volunteer's chances of succeeding are good. To ensure that the volunteer is successful most of the time, however, the Mentalist can transplant his thoughts into the volunteer's mind. The Mentalist can also cause one volunteer to read another volunteer's mind. Here the Mentalist can be perceived as having received the first volunteer's mind, and then transplanting those thoughts to the second volunteer's mind.
